This Privacy Policy describes how Quiz Nights SA (“we”, “our”, or “us”), operating under license from QuizApp Ltd (United Kingdom), handles data through our websites (www.quiznights.co.za and www.quizapp.co.za) and the QuizApp mobile application. We prioritize user privacy by minimizing direct data collection while ensuring compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and GDPR standards where data is processed in Europe. By using our services, you agree to the practices set out in this policy.

 

2. Information Handling & Collection

We strive to collect only the information necessary to provide our services and facilitate the leaderboard experience:

  • No Direct Identity Collection: We do not directly ask for or store your name or date of birth within our application.

  • Third-Party Tracking (Meta Pixels): We use Meta (Facebook) Pixels for analytics and marketing. Meta may collect or receive information (such as device identifiers) to provide measurement services and targeted ads.

  • Contact Data: We may collect your email address and phone number if you voluntarily provide them for updates or registration.

  • Location Data: We collect geo-location and "favourite venue" data to show relevant local leaderboards and pub locations.

  • Technical Data: IP addresses and server log details are gathered in aggregate for diagnostic and support issues.

  • To manage the "Single Point" national and local leaderboards.

  • To enable access to our associated applications and social media platforms.

Our technical infrastructure is managed by QuizApp Ltd, and our data centers are currently located in Europe. By using QuizApp, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United Kingdom and Europe. We ensure these transfers comply with POPIA by using providers who adhere to privacy standards substantially similar to South African laws.

We may disclose information in special situations:

  • To third parties (such as our technical partner QuizApp Ltd) engaged to provide services on our behalf.
