CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

1. Acceptance of Rules

The QuizApp platform and associated websites are operated by Quiz Nights SA under license from QuizApp Ltd (United Kingdom). By registering an account on QuizApp or participating in a live event, you agree to be bound by these Conditions of Participation and our Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to modify these rules at our discretion to maintain the integrity and fairness of the competition.

2. Eligibility

• Age Requirement: You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

• Prize Eligibility: While the leaderboard is national, physical prizes are strictly reserved for participants present at an authorized Quiz Nights SA venue located within the borders of South Africa.

• Exclusions: Employees of Quiz Nights SA, QuizApp Ltd, and designated Quiz Masters are ineligible to win prizes.

3. The "Single Point" Leaderboard & Scoring

• National Ranking: Our system provides a unified, fair leaderboard managed by QuizApp Ltd to track performance across all participants.

• Time-Based Bonus: Bonus points are awarded exclusively for speed. To qualify for a bonus, a correct answer must be submitted in under 10 seconds.

• Accuracy: Points are primarily awarded for correct answers; speed bonuses are only applied if the submitted answer is correct.

• Anti-Cheating: The use of external aids, search engines, or "bots" is strictly prohibited. Any player found cheating will be permanently banned, and their scores will be purged. We reserve the right to utilize device-specific identifiers to prevent banned users from creating new accounts

4. Prizes and Rewards

• Provider: All prizes are provided and fulfilled by Quiz Nights SA.

• Audit Rights: We reserve the right to audit leaderboard scores and timestamps before awarding major prizes to ensure the integrity of the 10-second bonus window.

• No Export: We do not facilitate prize redemption or shipping outside of South Africa.

• Claiming Prizes: Winners will be notified via email. Winners must confirm their chosen participating Quiz Nights SA venue by replying to the notification email within 30 (thirty) calendar days of the date of the email. Failure to respond within this period will result in the automatic forfeiture of the prize. Once the venue is confirmed, the prize will be issued via the method dictated by the venue, either by in-person collection at the authorized South African venue or via email.

• Once a voucher venue is confirmed, the selection is final and cannot be changed.

• No Cash Alternative: All prizes and vouchers are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. Prizes are intended for personal use at the confirmed venue only.

  Age Verification for Prizes: Notwithstanding the general eligibility age, all prize winners must provide valid government-issued identification upon request to verify they are 18 years of age or older before any prize or voucher is issued. Failure to provide such verification will result in immediate disqualification.

5. Responsible Drinking & Conduct

• No Purchase Required: Participation is based on skill; no purchase of alcohol is required to play or win prizes.

• Responsible Consumption: We encourage all participants to enjoy our events responsibly and support the right of venue staff to refuse service to intoxicated individuals.

• Right of Removal: Any participant deemed disruptive or in violation of the venue’s liquor license will be disqualified.

• Legal Age: Prizes will not be awarded to anyone under the legal drinking age (18) in South Africa.

• Safety: We strongly encourage players to use ride-sharing services or designated drivers. Please do not drink and drive.

6. Conduct and Fair Play

• Host Authority: The Quiz Master is the final authority on-site; however, they have limited involvement in the technical operation of the QuizApp itself.

• Sportsmanship: We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for harassment toward hosts, venue staff, or fellow competitors.

7. Limitation of Liability

The platform is provided "as is". Neither Quiz Nights SA nor QuizApp Ltd shall be liable for technical failures, local internet speed, or device latency that may affect a player's ability to trigger the 10-second time bonus or access the leaderboard.

Furthermore, Quiz Nights SA and QuizApp Ltd shall not be liable for any loss of prizes or data resulting from system glitches, errors, or technical malfunctions. In the event of such a failure, the decision of the system administrators regarding the validity of any claim or score shall be final.

Participating venues are not liable for any technical failures, system glitches, or errors associated with the QuizApp platform.

In the event of a significant technical outage affecting a live event, the Quiz Master or System Administrator reserves the right to declare a round 'null and void' or to extend the quiz duration, at their sole discretion.
